Get rid of fat and get toned right now!

Weight loss for people. How to lose fat and get toned muscle and breaking down the myths of the healthy lifestyle.

Were diets handed down from Mount Olympus to a selected few?

If you intend to start a diet any time soon, be prepared for a barrage of intelligence insulting guffaws of self-proclaimed diet Messiahs. Everybody else on this Earth is lobotomized, but the selected few; you are blessed, because you have bought their book, and of course the writers are saints, but humbled to be mere messengers of Gods to enlighten the masses devoted to gluttony. Such messengers are not doing this task for money, although the mansions and extravagant cars could mislead you, no, they do this as a service to Gods and the broad public, which is blinded by the worldly sparkles. As such, common sense means nothing, because this is the magical working of heavenly creatures, writing books better than the Bible, leading you with a golden path towards your skinny self.

If this sounds like a sect to you, then you are not mistaken. Ever since the Adventist movement, which propagated abstinence from certain foods together with the religious message, their most prominent contributor – who by the way left disgruntled, because he was not credited properly – Dr. Kellogg of the cereal fame, many people have tried to simply leave the religion out of it, but keep the whole nutrition movement intact, together with the fanatic structure. “We are right, everybody else is wrong” policy does work very well; politics in general are based on that principle for centuries now.

Similar to the religious movements, where most spiritual leaders are in it for the fame and fortune, the whole nutritional craze is filled with partial and wrong information. For instance, how are you supposed to go from wonderfully smelling and tasting food to bland and awfully tasting dishes for the rest of your life and without kicking the diet to smithereens? If you are not a diabetic, there is no reason why you cannot eat every now and then something sweet, as long as you can keep it in good measure. If you are out with friends, why should they all have a beer and you take tonic water or worse, lemonade, although you crave that foamy liquid more than air? Because it is a sin. It goes against the commandments written by Zeus himself, I am guessing now, and you will be condemned to a lifetime of obesity, or so they say. Why don’t you simply put down the book instead and turn on your brain?

Importance of personal trainers for motivation

The secret of the stars is finally out, the reason why they all have such a perfect body is because they have hired not only a nutritionist or a dietitian, but a personal trainer. These wondersome creatures have the knowledge and the capability to create personalized workouts for every single person, depending on many factors, including weight, height, previous experience, targets and goals, just to name a few. A personal trainer evaluates your current state, questions you about everything you do, evaluates your targets and needs, as well as capabilities and figures out a training plan that fits you perfectly; minor adjustments in future are possible, depending on how truthful you were.

Personal trainers very often work with nutritionists and dietitians together, which is an option, not a must, where the nutrition plan and workout schedules can be combined for better results. This coordination is very important for body sculpting, when people lose weight and are not willing to put up with surgical excess skin removals and similar side effects of weight loss. While you can have a diet plan worked out for you by a nutritionist and more or less stay the course with minor adjustments here and there, where you do not have to keep the diet expert on a retainer, with a personal trainer it is a completely different story.

If you never did sports seriously, not really like a professional, but as an amateur in a club, or running daily routes of ten miles for a prolonged period of time, let’s say a year, every day, or similar, then you will have a really hard time to stick to the workout without constant supervision. Not a single person is born with built in endurance, people differ in how easy or hard they get to certain levels of staying power, but it is always hard work. You gained weight because you did not spend all the calories you have eaten. Chances are that you have a job where you sit through the eight hours of work, but are nevertheless dead tired when you get home, because it is brain work, you barely use your muscles.

If you have worked in such a job for a couple of years, but have not maintained a healthy workout schedule, you have most surely gained weight. Losing the weight will be an arduous task, paired with a training it will go easier, but the exercise regime will be tough to keep. A personal trainer can work with you, constantly encouraging your physical improvement and adding to the load as you improve your abilities, never overly exercising or hurting you, which can easily happen if you pull weights on your own, or start up with yoga or Pilates with an exercise book. The motivation will never fail you, like it happens when you are on your own, the trainer can not only motivate you, but show you exactly in tedious detail how you improve, giving you a sense of immediate accomplishment.

The secrets to a successful diet

Most people that attempt to employ a diet regime fail. The reasons are many, but most of the time these reasons are the results of bad information and even worse preparations. Once you have reached the point where you really need to do a diet, there are several points you have to consider before you start. If you start a diet and give up after a short while, like a week or a few days, you will gain back what you have lost and add a few pounds for sure.

The spirit is willing, but the body is weak

If you were eating over three thousand calories a day and were indulging yourself with all kind of tasty and yummy food, you will not be able to simply switch from one day to the other to bland boiled meat, and raw vegetables. Switching sweets for fruit in addition to it, and removing all soft drinks, beer and alcoholic beverages for simple water will most definitely give you the necessary kick to abandon the diet and start pigging out.

How do you think that you can simply abandon all food you like and suddenly eat food you mostly don’t like or which does not taste as well as your other food? Substituting soft drinks and beer for water at the same time will most definitely be too much for your taste buds, your determination to keep the diet up will crumble the first time you see a soft drink or beer commercial.

How can you avoid plunging into this trap?

Plan carefully, make sure you substitute the bad food for tasty good food, make juices, water scented with a lemon, squeezed orange or lime, let your imagination do the creative work. If you used to eat burgers, you can eat a burger now too, just buy lean chopped beef, make sure that you take the allotted ration for that meal, it’s a smaller burger, but it is one nevertheless. You want some fries with that? No problem, take a few potatoes, depending on the allotted amount for the day, chop them up, the way fries should look like, put them like that in the oven on 250 degrees Celsius. You like to eat sweets? Take a few fruits, like pineapple,  grapefruit, apple, kiwi and strawberries and make a fruit salad. There is a way around everything, you just have to take time to figure it out.

Diet myths exposed

Dieting has become a part of almost everybody’s life. With all the unhealthy food available nowadays, starting with all the soda drinks, smoking, fried and processed food, genetically modified meat and plants, it is a wonder that the average life span is estimated to be as much as 70 years of age. Nevertheless, the first dieting movement in the eighties of the previous century fizzled by the time millennium turned and just recently a new craze started to engulf the masses. Hundreds of new publications and just as many reissues are bombarding the interested dieting individual with every dieting myth and truth available, whereby the average consumer has no way of knowing which is true and which not.

There are some very blatant myths that have been exposed lately, but were pretty obvious from the beginning. For instance, that low fat foods, low fat diets and no fat diets help you lose weight. If you seriously believed that the fat on your belly came from the fat you ate, you are seriously mistaken. On the contrary, to stay healthy you need to eat a certain amount of fat daily, otherwise all kind of hazard can befall you. There are certain good fats, like Omega 3 and Omega 6, which are essential for your survival, mental capacity and a lot more. If you stop eating fat, the good fats are not stored in your belly, you cannot replace them with regurgitating the body fats.

The fat in your body is for energy storage and nothing else. All the excess calories that you have not used are stored there and will be reused, when you need additional energy. But crash dieting or fasting is not going to do that trick for you, which is another myth. Your body has protective mechanisms which will not allow you to lose weight too fast. If you live off water for a couple of days, you will initially lose some weight, up to some five kilograms, but then your body will switch to starvation prevention mode and you will not lose any body fat. It will start to deplete everything that is available more readily, starting with your muscle tissue.

One of the biggest myths is the one saying that you will gain weight if you stop smoking. The truth is, only if you have developed some form of possible cancers, caused by smoking, will make you lose weight. The reason why people sometimes gain weight when they stop smoking is that they do not really know what to do with themselves in the time frame which was allotted to smoking, so they start to snack, in order to use all the free time.

You are thin because you have a faster metabolism and you are fat because you have a slow metabolism are right up there in the myth pyramid. Have you ever seen one of the so called fast metabolism people sit around for hours and hours and do nothing? All of them are almost hyperactive. If you have a slow metabolism and you become hyperactive, you will lose weight as well. Just try it out.

Importance of personal trainers

In recent years, where the ideals of a perfect body have spun way out of control, declaring almost inhumane thinness and bulky muscles as the ideals proposed by Hollywood’s elite, with several trendy and less trendy magazines and online blogs following suit, the demand for personal trainers has skyrocketed. The reason is not really found in any of the aforementioned publications, but is a previously carefully kept secret of the stars and currently the trendy thing to do, to have a personal trainer.

Like with every other fashion, there are thousands of followers who do not really know why it is important to have a personal trainer, whereby the reasons are as evident as they are logical. If you hire a nutritionist or a dietitian to create your diet, which will fill you up, taste nice and help you lose pounds or keep your weight down; the same way you will need someone to help you figure out a workout schedule that will fit your personal goals and needs.

Not everyone is looking to become the next Arnold Schwarzenegger, or bulk up that far at all; most people only want to exercise in order to gain or regain their fit body, and lose pounds where they disturb the most. It is not possible to diet properly without an exercise regime and it is not possible to evenly and healthy lose pounds only by not eating. People tend to gain weight differently, while someone may only gain weight in the belly region first, others gain weight evenly throughout the body and do not seem as overweight. Therefore it is not only necessary to address the overweight problem, but to force the body to lose weight right there where it is visible the most.

For instance, Jennifer Lopez is prone to weight gain and every single ounce is going straight to her thighs and backside. While these pounds bulk up rather fast, they are very tricky to go off, especially in such places like thighs and backside. If you only diet, you will lose other, easier accessible pounds, including some muscle mass, unless a personal trainer helps you address the problem regions directly.

Personal trainers really come into play when you are looking to achieve the abdominal six-pack. It is almost impossible to reach that goal after you have passed a certain age, depending on your constitution this age may be in the teens, unless the diet plan is paired with a proper exercise regime. Having a really good diet is just half the work. The personal trainer will help you get the muscles to show, not only to bulk up for a few days. Did you know that you can achieve the six-pack easier with running and swimming, than with sit-ups? You wouldn’t know, unless a professional tells you. How can you make the most out of your busy schedule, when you cannot really waste two hours a day to spend them in a gym? You will not find out, unless you hire a personal trainer.

Is a diet without an exercise regime futile?

The biggest mistake people make, when dieting, is to assume that a diet is there to help them to lose weight. This is not the case. The result of a healthy diet is weight loss, if you are overweight or obese, but the reason why you are picking up a diet plan is to improve the quality of your nutrition, to provide your body with the necessary nutrients and to learn how to eat properly. Weight loss is just a side effect, signifying that you are doing it right, for a change.

Same thing can be said for your exercise regime. Your body is built for certain activities, which should not be a problem for you. As soon as some regular activities, like getting up off a chair or walking to the supermarket to pick up groceries, seem like work, you know that you need to exercise. Unless you want to run a marathon or pick up professional sports, you do not need to exercise like a professional; if you have a personal trainer who makes you run fifteen miles every day and then schleps you into a gym for weight lifting, it is time to evaluate your goals and ask the trainer to show you his or her professional license.

Yes, you will lose weight more properly if you exercise while dieting. No, you don’t need to go hungry all the time; if you are exercising, the idea is to spend the calories, not to starve you to shape. That is why you would need a personal trainer, for instance, because you can provide him or her with a diet schedule that you have, or had made by a nutritionist, then this trainer can provide you with a sensitive exercise plan that will burn the calories and a little bit more, in order to lose the excess fat you are harboring.

The reason why many people go around eating a salad a day and one or two fruits is because they are not exercising, any calorie they eat will not be spent. Therefore, if you are working out and spending four hundred or five hundred calories in your workout, even if you eat your two thousand calories a day – depending on your diet plan – which is not much, but also not little, if you eat proper food, you are still losing weight!

Why is a personal trainer irreplaceable, if you are on a diet?

Most people who are either considering or already on a diet do not feel that a personal trainer is necessary. They simply do exercises in whichever way they feel comfortable and at least ruin their joints, generally just give up exercising and do the diet. If the dieting individual continues to work out in a self designed exercise program, no matter if it was picked out of a book or off an internet blog.

Why is it a problem if someone picks up the training regime on his or her own?

Nothing, if he or she is a licensed trainer, or similar. The reasons are simple, even if you have a very good idea what you are doing, you cannot properly and impartially evaluate your limits. You probably have done exercising before, but you stopped, for whichever reason. You gained weight, it does not matter how much, but you are dieting and trying to get rid of the excess pounds. Your body is weakened by the diet, no matter how good the dietitian or nutritionist is, you are trying to extract the excess fat out of your body and that does not run easy. In addition to that, you are contemplating to work out.

The workout you picked may range from fast walking to power weightlifting; you may even have a nice history of any sport, but you have no way of knowing just how far your constitution has deteriorated. It is a matter of staying healthy and it is much better to pay a professional to assist you with that, instead of paying the doctor to fix your mistakes, leaving the pain out of the equation.

Did you know that your diet needs to be amended, if you are exercising?

You cannot continue with the same calorie intake as before, you are burning more calories than when you are not exercising.

How are you going to find out just how much calories you are burning?

People differ, constitutions differ, workout history is different, weight is different, it all must be calculated, together with the performed work. Besides that, you would like to lose weight where it hurts your looks the most, if you are female, the last thing you want is to lose weight in your chest area, but keep the thighs. If you are male, you want to get in shape and sculpt your body, not have powerful arms but weak legs, or vice versa.

Diet or health, which one do you chose?

Unfortunately for many, diets do not come with a label saying “this diet is hazardous to your health, use it only under strict supervision”. The current craze that has overcome the world, projecting impossible ideals and unreachable goals pertaining to the weight and appearance issues, has brought nothing but trouble. On one side you have all those people who look like movie stars, on the other you have people who are ranging from overweight to morbidly obese. The slim ones complain how they never get to eat anything, the overweight ones complain how they are constantly on a diet, but to no avail.

The diet and exercise industry is a multibillion dollar industry and it is only logical that many people are in it just for the money. Just like in every other industry, such money vultures are only looking for fast cash and do not consider the damages they cause to common people.

Industrialization has brought many good things, but also many bad things to people. To name a few relevant bad things, allow me to list processed food, fast food, soda drinks and tobacco.

Looking back in time, our forefathers were mostly not obese. They did eat all kind of food we would now consider fattening, they ate a lot of it, but they do not look terrible on the old photographs or paintings. At that time, there were different beauty ideals, but morbidly obese people were widely unknown. What happened?

Frying happened, additives happened, industrialization happened, money became more valuable than people, that is what happened. For instance, instead of putting natural lemon juice, which can also work as a preservative, additives of chemical origin are put into the food, with artificial lemon taste available as well. These additives are toxic to the body and can remain in the stored fat or water for a while, making the shedding of excess fat or water harder. Does for instance cellulite ring a bell?

Modern sweets are so packed with sugar; the smallest serving is already loaded with a calorie count that could keep a small Ethiopian village alive for a week. Why do they put so much sugar in there? Well, with the soda drink in your other hand, which is even sweeter, you would not perceive the sweet you are eating as sweet at all

The diet and nutrition facts, with some added exercising, for good measure when losing fat and getting toned.

When facing all the diets proposed in books, over the internet and by various dietitians and nutritionists, then some questions arise, which need to be answered. For instance, if some food is considered bad and some other food is considered good, shouldn’t all the diets be the same? Or perhaps this : If I spend a lot of calories working out during my diet, why am I supposed to eat less food?

Some other more pressing questions happen, once you started with a regime, like why am I not losing weight, although I am keeping this diet to the letter; or how comes that I feel so hungry, every time I am supposed to work out I feel like I could eat a horse?

Many people that want to earn money with their exclusive diets and workout programs cannot override the existing laws prohibiting the use of copyright and trademark protected materials. If someone has already published and copyright protected the lemonade diet, you cannot start a new movement with your bland of lime diet variant. This leads to all kind of ridiculous diets than no normal human can keep up, simply because people are trying to earn money.

There is no science involved in dieting, if you view it from the stand point of hard facts. You ate too much and too much of the bad food, you did not burn the excess calories, it is stored as fat wherever it is visible, especially by you. To get rid of the fat, you will spend at least as much time as you’ve spent putting it on, particularly if you intend to stay healthy. You will need to change your eating habits, because your current ones have propelled you into this state you are in now. You will need to pick up some form of body workout, because when you use your muscles, you burn calories, if you burn more calories than you ingested, you will lose the stored calories in your excess fat.

It sounds simple, doesn’t it? Well, it is not. Your diet needs to encompass all the nutrients you need, including carbohydrates, fibers, fats and protein. You may need to hire a nutritionist to fix you up with a working diet. Furthermore, you need to start with some form of exercise, like fast walking, bike riding or swimming, in order to burn calories.
